EIFI
The initiative to create independent forums for the exchange between the different cultural traditions of humanity resulted in a series of congresses, which has continued every two years since its inception in Mexico City in 1995. The main concern is to promote a healthy co-existence of cultures in the world we all live in together by developing a new way of thinking.
In the exchange with other cultures of knowledge and wisdom, philosophy examines its self-image and its social function. At the same time, it discovers interculturality as a new way to understand and shape the relationship to its existence.
Central themes from this collaborative work are:
Cultures of Philosophy
Interaction and Asymmetry of Cultures in the Context of Globalisation

With the VIIth International Congress 2007 in Buenos Aires the focus shifts to the cultural diversity of humanity as a potential for the renewal of human life and social coexistence. The aim is to explore critical humanistic traditions in an intercultural dialogue, to show the alternatives to today’s prevailing concepts of being human and of a successful coexistence. Two questions dominate this debate, which leads from Buenos Aires via Seoul and San José de Costa Rica to Vienna:
Concepts of humanity and of a good life
Universality and cultural justice

NEW ACCENTS IN THE CONGRESS SERIES
XVIIth International Seminar of the North-South Dialogue Programme
From 14–18 July 2014, the XVIIth International Seminar of the North-South Dialogue Programme will take place at the CIDECI-Unitierra Chiapas in Memoriam Don Luis Villoro.
The theme is: Justice, Knowledge and Spirituality.
This seminar examines the consequences of modern scientific epistemology with the aim of pointing out possible ways for the development of knowledge that promotes the development of just and solidary coexistence.
This joint work has resulted in a long-term, intercontinental research project on the theme of “Justice, Knowledge and Spirituality”, initiated and coordinated by Raúl Fornet-Betancourt. The goal is to clarify to what extent we can lean on spiritual traditions in the struggle for social and epistemological justice today.
Working groups (per continent) are being set up to continue working on this topic and to contribute their expertise to the overall project.
